Shoes for My Daughter Part VI

Once we I got my daughter home, I put her into the black patent leather shoes to help her get used to them.  She threw another fit refusing to stand up and stubbornly remained in a squatting position. When I did not take them off of her right away, she sat down after a few minutes of squatting and ripped them off of her feet herself.  I put the shoes  back on her feet and examined how the fit her.  The shoes seemed more than a little big (but it seems shoes are supposed to be a half a size bigger for children). The biggest problem seemed to be that the shoes themselves were a bit too solid and clunky for my newly walking daughter.  The Mary Janes that I happened to prefer, had the sole that was specifically made for new walkers (not the pre walkers fabric sole) in a soft more malleable rubber.  I was annoyed that the certified fit specialist/saleswoman so hastily determined that those shoes would not work for my daughter.  I returned the black Mary Janes in question the following day and ordered the other pair through the specific shoe brand’s website in the size she was fitted.  When said shoes arrived (in five and a half wide),  I put them on my daughter and they were HUGE!  They were clearly way too big beyond the half a size bigger for room to grow.  I determined that the saleswoman was simply trying to get rid of stock (they were a franchise and not a “certified” store).  I was livid!  I called the company’s customer service number and explained my situation with the shoes and the in store fitting (that is when I found out that the store in my city is not “certified”).  The customer service representative had me measure my daughter’s feet with a ruler and she determined based on infant shoe sizing charts that my daughter was a four and a half medium (size up a half a size to a five) not a five and a half wide!  The customer service was great.  I got the shoes reordered in the correct size and mailed the other shoes back to them free of charge!  When the shoes came in the correct size (five and a half medium), they seemed a tiny bit big (room to grow) but I was satisfied.  It only took a few hours for my daughter to warm up to these new black patent leather Mary Janes with the squishy rubber sole.  To my most pleasant surprise, she actually brings her new black shoes to me to put on her!
