Spring Paint Project

Nothing says spring to me like painting something in the house. I love a fresh look on an old familiar room and spring seems to be the perfect time for it.

I’ve been remodeling this house since I bought it four years ago, and let me tell you, it may never be finished. So far I’ve managed to redo a bath and a half, one bedroom and the family room. The rest of the house is in various stages of being worked on.

I need something new. I love how much cleaner a room seems after you paint it and make a few small changes. Of course it is cleaner because you had to clean before you painted it but I think you know what I mean.

Right now I don’t have a room that is ready to paint so I have to find small jobs. I think I will start with the front door. Something bright and colorful to offset this awful wants to be white siding and light brown brick. Maybe a pretty blue.

I’m going to paint the bookshelves and the rocking chair in the living room. They are the only pieces of furniture in there so a coat of paint will change the entire look of that room. It really needs to be painted but I should have remembered that I’m afraid of heights before I bought a house with vaulted ceilings.

I think I am also going to make frames for my windows and paint those a bright color. Maybe the kitchen cabinets too while I’m at it.

By the time I get finished my house may look like an Easter egg in the off season but I’ll be happy with my little spring makeover and when the house looks pretty I’m more motivated to clean it. At least until next year when I’ll have to change something else.
