Starbucks Treats

Perhaps different from many Americans, my husband and I have never spent oodles of money on regular Starbucks “treats.” We’ve been married 4 1/2 years now, and until a year or so ago we had gone to Starbucks for a special treat only 3 or 4 times since getting married. When we would go there, it was a major treat for me, mostly, since I like coffee and tea so much. Starbucks was a treat for really only me until my husband realized Starbucks had other non-coffee or tea-related beverages, like Caramel Apple Cider and Strawberry Frappuccinos®. When he found those drinks, he joined me as a Starbucks fan.

For a while we had a life without regular Starbucks purchases, that is until we got a new credit card: the Starbucks Duetto™ Visa® Credit Card. Since we choose to use credit very often (not racking up credit that we won’t be paying off anytime soon but charging for the sake of getting rewarded), this Duetto™ credit card gives us great rewards. One percent of what we purchase with our Duetto™ card goes onto our card as reward money to spend at Starbucks. So, we get Starbucks quite often (2 or 3 times a month) without any guilt over the money spent.

Now my husband and I both have favorite hot and cold drinks from Starbucks. His favorite hot drink, of course, is the Caramel Apple Cider, and mine is a Latte with Peppermint; our favorite cold drinks are both Frappuccinos®: Strawberries & Crème is his and mine is the Double Chocolate Chip with added Peppermint (yes I love the mint flavor). Now that our daughter is no longer oblivious to our special Starbucks treats, she gets a special Starbucks beverage as well. Her drink is usually a child’s chocolate milk, which comes in the adorable Starbucks cup, or an Organic Vanilla Milk carton that is already made up and waiting in the refrigerated section.

We have been enjoying our free splurges (hmmmm those two words sure seem to be opposites, don’t they?), and as long as we’re using the credit card in a correct manner, i.e. paying it off every month, then we can continue getting treats from Starbucks from time to time. All I can say is I’m thankful my husband found out that Starbucks offers Caramel Apple Cider!
