Stars Receiving Medical Attention

He hasn’t even been on the job for a week and Drew Carey has already suffered his first “Price Is Right” related injury. Attack of the Big Wheel! Well, not exactly. According to show execs, Carey’s arm got caught in the revolving turntable on the Grocery Game during a recent rehearsal. (Can you imagine if it happened on air?)

Show producers say the comedian turned game show host was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is now sporting a “soft cast” and nursing a few bruises. Carey says he is feeling better and has been reportedly showing off his battle wounds on his iPhone.

You have to wonder what Bob Barker has to say about his predecessor’s bad luck–“Watch out for the Plinko board.”

From what I can remember, in the 35 years that Barker hosted “The Price is Right” he never sustained a game-related injury. Perhaps, Carey should start wearing protective gear to work.

Another star receiving medical attention is Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton. But her visit to the hospital was not nearly as unfortunate as Carey’s. Bunton was in the hospital to give birth to her first child—a son named Beau.

Bunton says the name Beau means “beautiful” in French. Baby Beau was born Friday at 11:12 a.m. and weighed a healthy 7 lbs., 15oz., reportedly the same birth weight as his father, Bunton boyfriend Jade Jones, according to Bunton’s rep.

Like Bunton, Jones is a singer (he’s a former member of the British boy band Damage) and the couple have been together for eight years. They share a five-bedroom home north of London where they have been trying to conceive a child for a number of years, though it hasn’t been easy. You’ll recall in 2000, Bunton had to have pre-cancerous cells removed from her cervix. Then, just last year, the Spice Girl revealed she’d been diagnosed with endometriosis. She considers her new arrival a “miracle.”

With the birth of Beau there are now seven Spice Kids getting ready to follow in their moms’ footsteps (maybe): “Posh” Victoria Beckham has three sons; “Scary” Melanie Brown has two daughters; and “Ginger” Geri Halliwell has one daughter. “Sporty” Melanie Chisholm is the only one who has yet to be inducted into the Spice mommy club.
