Summer Travel Surprises in Europe

Cash strapped travelers who have been dreaming of taking a summer holiday to Europe have reason to celebrate today. Never mind that it’s not your birthday or anniversary you’re still eligible to receive the gift that Best Western is passing out to its guests.

The hotel chain is commemorating its 30th year in Great Britain by offering rates of 30 pounds a room (that’s about $60 at today’s exchange rates). More than 90 Best Western locations in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands are offering the reduced rates.

To be eligible for the discount you must stay for two nights at a participating Best Western property between July 21 and September 7, 2008. Also, rates are based on availability so it’s best to book early.

If you can’t make it in time to take advantage of the Best Western deals you might consider heading to a Travelodge for a good night’s sleep. The hotel chain has just added new additions to its guest rooms, which it guarantees will help you have sweet dreams.

Travelodges throughout the United Kingdom are offering specially scented sheets–dubbed “ReminiScents”–to encourage guests to drift off to wonderland with a smile on their faces.

Guests at select Travelodge properties will be able to choose from the following exclusive “ReminiScents” free of charge:

The Sea – To evoke memories of holidays spent at seaside resorts. The sea is the number one scent that Brits said they would like to be surrounded by as they drift off to sleep.

Freshly Cut Grass – To evoke the scents of happy summer days.

Baby powder – To remind guests of their children.

Home-baked Apple Pie – To create a home-away-from-home experience for guests.

Chocolate – The scent of chocolate and sugary sweets is the most comforting smell for 9% of UK women who responded to the hotel’s survey on favorite scents.
