Popular Chef Dies

The culinary world is in mourning today following the death of Friedman Paul Erhardt. The German-born cook better known as “Chef Tell” was 63. I remember watching Chef Tell on “Regis and Kathie Lee.” He was a fixture on the talk show and his jolly personality complimented the sardonic banter shared by Regis and Kathie Lee who really had no place in the kitchen. Cajun Chef Justin Wilson

Even though he is no longer with us, Justin Wilson remains one of my all-time favorite chefs. I love how he combined great recipes with his down home humor. Among my favorite recipes of his is his hot cabbage slaw, bacon potato salad, and hushpuppies – makes my mouth water just thinking about them! Justin was born in Roseland, Louisiana in 1914. He was the son of Harry D. Wilson, the Commissioner of Agriculture for Louisiana. In his early career, Justin was a safety engineer. The Golden Globes are over – award season has begun! There is one constant every award season – Wolfgang Puck. For the last ten years, Wolfgang Puck has been in charge of one of the most important events of the Academy Awards – the banquet for the Governor’s Ball.
