Disney Channel Friends for Change Games

“High School Musical” star Corbin Bleu at a prior Disney Games event In 2007 and 2008 the Disney Channel’s then-stars such as Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers competed in a series of gladiator-style games for charity. The event was filmed and called the Disney Channel Games. The Orlando Sentinel has the scoop that after a two-year break the games return in 2011, albeit with some changes. This time, in keeping with the theme “Friends for Change” that the Disney Channel’s developed for its Project Green program, the event’s called the Disney Channel Friends for Change Games. Rather than filming … Continue reading

The Joaquin Phoenix Circus Continues while Bret Michaels Opens Up

Joaquin Phoenix is in the news again and as you might suspect, it is not in a good way. The actor turned rapper has puzzled everyone with his new bizarre personality and looks, but no one really seems to know if it is all an act or just a frightening public breakdown a la Britney. Phoenix was performing at the Fountainbleau’s LIV nightclub in Miami Wednesday night when he experienced a heckler (and if you’ve hear his “music,” that is completely understandable!). It was around 2 a.m. when Phoenix, who had exchanged barbs with the heckler, decided to take matters … Continue reading

When a Reunion Isn’t Really a Reunion

I read today that Led Zeppelin “long-awaited reunion” may lead to more concerts. The group will be performing on December 10th at London’s 02 Arena in a benefit tribute concert for Ahmet Ertegun. Ertegun was the co-founder of Atlantic Records (along with Herb Abramson) who passed away last year. I only have one problem with this. The “reunion” of Led Zeppelin doesn’t include all the original members. The original members of the band, formed in 1968, were Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham. I am not that big a Led Zeppelin fan, but to me, the … Continue reading

Discovering New Music with and for Your Kids

One of the pleasures of my life has been discovering bands and artists, becoming vested in their music then watching them evolve as musicians and, in some cases, as people. It can be so very rewarding to find a band, singer or musician (local or national) that is relatively unknown and then fall in love with their style, lyrics, live performances and records. You can feel a deep connection to that act, because you were on board early. It is like having a little secret that is wonderful and brings a tremendous amount of joy. To share this with others … Continue reading

Hot Concert Acts Sell Out in Seconds

Thirty-eight seconds to be exact. That’s right; in less time than it takes to warm up a cup of coffee tickets for the Spice Girls London reunion show completely sold out. And, wait until you find out how long it took for Miley Cyrus’ concerts to sell out. More on “Hannah Montana” later… let’s discuss those spicy Brits first. The all-girl group hasn’t performed together in nearly a decade (Geri Halliwel, a.k.a. “Ginger Spice,” quit, citing “differences in 1998), but who knew their popularity would rival acts such U2, Michael Jackson and Bruce Springsteen (all who remain in the record … Continue reading

Star Updates: What’s Next For Justin’s Girl and A Legendary Tenor

How many of you ladies dressed up as Wonder Woman as a child? You remember… the shiny wristbands, the gold lariat, the form fitting, patriot red-white-and blue ensemble, flying around in the invisible jet… ah memories… For one lucky lady, those girlhood dreams are about to come true. According to Daily Variety, actress Jessica Biel (as in Justin Timberlake’s current flame) is reportedly in talks to play Wonder Woman in the movie Justice League of America. The movie follows the lives of caped crusaders Superman, Batman, Aquaman and the Flash. However, no other actors have been named for those parts. … Continue reading

Prince to Tour London then Study the Bible

His name once seemed almost synonymous with the word “sex,” but now Prince has other things on his mind. He plans to play twenty one concert dates in London starting August 1st of this year and will then take time off to study the Bible. Over his career, Prince has sold approximately 80 million albums. Hits like “When Doves Cry,” “Little Red Corvette,” and “1999” have made him a household name in the 80s. But now it seems that as he closes in on age 50, Prince has things more spiritual in nature on his mind. Prince said that he … Continue reading
