Edie Exits Wisteria Lane and Cheryl Enters Into a New Relationship

Someone is getting the ax on Wisteria Lane, and it’s not Susan Mayer. Actually, the mystery regarding, which of the lovely Desperate Housewives’ stars, is getting the boot from the show is really not that mysterious at all. According to series creator Marc Cherry, Nicollette Sheridan’s saucy character Edie Britt will be leaving Wisteria Lane at the end of April. “She had a great time on the show and is looking forward to her next project,” Sheridan’s rep told reporters earlier this week. We may know who’s leaving, but lips are sealed regarding how Edie is set to depart from … Continue reading

What Hollywood Stars Are Doing During the Writers’ Strike

We know they aren’t shooting new episodes of their hit shows so how are the stars of our favorite primetime series’ spending their time off? If you are Desperate Housewives’ star Marcia Cross you are spending time in Washington lobbying Congress to pass the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2007. The 45-year-old mother of twins recently spent time on Capitol Hill voicing her opinion regarding “drive-through” mastectomies for women forced to leave the hospital hours after surgery. The actress tried to encourage lawmakers to give women the choice to recuperate for at least 48 hours following the invasive surgery. … Continue reading

Celebrity “REAL” or “RUMOR”—-Are They or Aren’t They?

IS SHE? This is an update to a previous “Celebrity REAL or RUMOR” I posted a few weeks ago. Back then the Internet was buzzing with the rumor that “Desperate Housewives’” star Nicollette Sheridan was pregnant with fiancé Michael Bolton’s baby. Several tabloids suggested 44-year-old Sheridan was with child and cited claims that she was turning to her “Desperate Housewives” co-stars, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman, to provide her with advice on pregnancy issues. Well, chock up those fake conversations to tabloid fodder because Bolton is finally batting down the rumors that he is about to be a … Continue reading

Writers Strike Update—-How Many New Episodes Are Left?

In my previous blog I shared the good news that representatives from the Writers Guild of America and Hollywood producers are set to head back to the bargaining table later this month to hopefully end the two-week-old strike. Since the strike began November 5th, late night talk shows and several sitcoms have gone to reruns. Other series are now precariously close to running out of new episodes. Frankly, I found the news rather surprising given all the talk that preceded the strike. Prior to the writers hitting the picket lines industry analysts were flapping their lips on various cable channel … Continue reading

Celebrity REAL or RUMOR: Britney’s Driving Ban and “Desperate Housewives’” Star is Pregnant

BRITNEY’S A WRECK (WAITING TO HAPPEN) Very REAL. Britney Spears couldn’t make ex-husband Kevin Federline’s attempts at gaining full custody of their young sons any easier. Just when you thought the trainwreck’s driving-related issues were over—–BAM—the pop diva gets caught running a red light in her sports car and nearly gets into a collision. To make matters worse, Spears did so with her two sons strapped into the backseat of her car and a court-appointed monitor in the front passenger’s seat. Oh, and that’s not the half of it. Paparazzi photos show Spears driving towards the intersection in Los Angeles … Continue reading

Writers’ Strike Hits “Desperate Housewives”

Oh sure, now the truth comes out. Prior to writers actually hitting the picket line yesterday, producers of popular primetime TV shows such as “Desperate Housewives,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “CSI” maintained their series’ wouldn’t be sent into reruns until January. Fat chance. Turns out production has already stopped on at least six sitcoms because of the Hollywood writers’ strike. According to studio heads, my favorite show of the new season “Back to You,” starring Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton, will not return from a planned hiatus. Sniff. Sniff. Julia Louis-Dreyfus told TV’s “Entertainment Tonight” production has also … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri: Lending A Hand, Taking A Hand, and Watching A Hand

LENDING A HAND And you thought he only garnered headlines when he was with Heather Locklear. It appears there’s more to actor David Spade than most of us realize. According to news reports, the “Rules of Engagement” star recently donated $25,000 to the family of a slain Phoenix police officer. The 43-year-old comedian and Arizona native told reporters after reading about the police officer’s death last month, he was “hit out of the blue” by the shooting and the fact that the officer had overcome cancer to return to duty. “It just struck me as such a rough situation just … Continue reading
