Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Joy to all

We wish you a Merry Christmas; we wish you a Merry Christmas… and a Happy New Year! Be glad I’m just writing it and not actually singing it. And, while New Year’s Eve will be here soon enough, I want to take a moment to wish everyone the best, hoping that each of you enjoy great health and prosperity during the holidays and throughout the year. For those who celebrate Christmas as a commemoration of the birth of Christ, I will be wishing Jesus a happy birthday along with you. Even though no one can be certain of the actual … Continue reading

It’s Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Wow! Christmas Eve sure arrived fast. I hope everyone is ready. I’m almost there and I’m hoping I haven’t forgotten anything that will land me in a store today. It has been my goal to avoid shopping on Christmas Eve. Are your kids brimming with excitement? I think I am just as filled with anticipation as my children are. I can’t wait to see their faces when they open their gifts tomorrow morning, and I’m sure it will be early in the morning! I think I’ve got everything ready to go, so I should be … Continue reading

Did You Know That Scrooge May Very Well Have Saved Christmas?

My husband and I are very fond of trivia and historical trivia is among the best. Imagine our surprise as we were looking for new bits of trivia to tease and entertain each other with that we came across this little gem. Many of us are familiar with the story of A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens in the 19th century. What I didn’t know is that when he released his little gilt-edged book, the phrase Merry Christmas was rarely said and businesses rarely closed for Christmas day. After all, it was the midst of the Industrial Revolution and … Continue reading

Do You have Issues with Holiday Greetings?

Last year, some retailers even went so far as to forbid their employees from saying Merry Christmas. Their advertising schemes included the … Continue reading

This month, we celebrate our first anniversary here at Families.com, last month we celebrated our 1000th post and much, much more. Our Holiday Plans This month we’re all going to be busy, we’re all making holiday plans, some of us are traveling, some of us are staying home – some of us celebrate with Santa Claus … Continue reading

Is Santa Coming to Your House?

Warning: You may not want to let young children read this! How does your family know when Santa’s been to visit? Are the cookies and milk all gone when you’re kids get up? Does Santa bring all the presents, or does he just fill the stockings and add a few items along with the other gifts already under the tree? Are there more gifts from Santa or from Mom and Dad? Maybe there is just one special gift from him. Perhaps he brings a few but his gifts are separate from the others. Does he use different wrapping paper and … Continue reading
