Drew Hits the Track and the President of the United States Hooks Up with Howie

What is it with “Dancing with the Stars” winners and the need for speed? Last season’s winner Helio Castroneves was an Indy-race car driver long before he took a turn on the dance floor, but now it appears DWTS champ (from season two) Drew Lachey wants to burn rubber too. Lachey recently ditched his dancing shoes for four wheels that move faster than pro partner Cheryl Burke’s hips. The former member boy bander qualified Friday for the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, a 10-lap charity race that is part of 34th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and just yesterday he … Continue reading

Preparing For A White House Wedding

Now that the world knows President Bush’s daughter Jenna is engaged to marry her boyfriend Henry Hager, bets are being made on whether the affair will take place in the White House. Just in case you missed it, the White House announced yesterday that President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush are adding to the family: “President and Mrs. George W. Bush are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Bush, to Mr. Henry Hager, son of the Honorable and Mrs. John H. Hager of Richmond, Virginia,” the White House said in a statement. “Miss Bush and Mr. … Continue reading

What is Up with Barbra Streisand?

I will be the first to admit that Barbra Streisand is very, very talented. In this day and age of “stars” like Lindsay Lohan, Barbra is a throwback to a time when the truly talented could both act and sing. But one thing I have never liked is her liberal political point of view. I appreciate her zeal, but I wish celebrities would realize that when they mix their personal convictions with their professional life, they might suffer consequences. She has had two run-ins with fans in the last month due to her political views. In early October, she appeared … Continue reading

A Crazy Week in Politics

I really do not pay a whole lot of attention to what goes on in politics. I mean, I do pay attention to key elections (such as president), but for the most part, I just do not get into politics. But this week was so crazy – it is hard to not notice what is going on. First, there was Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez calling President Bush “the devil.” What is up with this guy? And it is not like he said it at home, in his house. No, he said it in front of the United Nations! He went … Continue reading

Willie Nelson Defends the Dixie Chicks

Willie Nelson thinks the Dixie Chicks got a “raw deal” because their criticism of President Bush has seemingly affected concert ticket sales. In case you don’t remember or know the whole story, lead singer for the Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines told London concert goers “Just so you know, we’re ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas.” That was three years ago, but the backlash still seems to be in effect even though Maines issued a statement of apology to the President on their web page shortly after the comment. The Chicks have recently experienced poor ticket sales … Continue reading

“American Idols” Meet the President

What does it take to be given a private tour of the White House by the President of the Untied States? I would guess you would have to be a head of state, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, or at the very least, a friend of the first couple’s twin daughters Jenna and Barbara. But, apparently all you need to do (not that I can do it) is to sing well in front of millions week after week. If you haven’t already heard, 10 “American Idol” finalists had the opportunity to “hang” with the president at the White House on … Continue reading
