When You Miss Church

I look forward to Sunday each week. I enjoy going to church to take the Sacrament. It is my chance to spiritually renew myself each week. After a long stressful week it is nice to be surrounded by friends who understand my beliefs and support me during my trials. But sometimes I can’t make it to church on Sunday. Generally this is because we have little ones who are ill or I am ill, since we try to attend church even when we are out of town. On those weeks I have to work extra hard so that I don’t … Continue reading

Primary Time: Working on Transitions

You can set up a Sunday morning routine that will set it apart from other days of the week. This way your children are preparing for Sacrament meeting from the beginning. Sunday may be the day that … Continue reading

Finding Peace on the Sabbath

It is important to realize that the Sabbath Day is a day of rest. Many people try to cram so much into a Sunday, that they are left exhausted at the end of it. Since church attendance is anything but peaceful right now, I find that I need to do more at home on Sunday to help me find that … Continue reading

What Is Sunday Best?

As members of the church we are encouraged to dress in our best for church. This reminds us that church is a special time to reflect on our relationship with the Savior. It can also help us to focus more on the lessons that we learn at church. However, it is important not to judge others in what they wear to church. I have seen investigators that come to church in jeans and a t-shirt and they are welcomed in with open arms. I have also known sisters that come to church in nice slacks and a dress shirt. Once … Continue reading

Making the Most of Your Saturdays

My husband often complains that he does not really get a weekend. It can be frustrating to find time to do things with family over the weekend, especially if you are attending church and keeping the Sabbath day holy. We both love that Sunday is a day that we set aside to honor the Lord, but it does make Saturday a little bit more hectic than it could be if we had two days to accomplish everything we want to on Saturday. Preparing to Be Taught

Each Sunday we gather together at church to partake of the sacrament. After the sacrament meeting we have the opportunity to attend Sunday School class. We will also attend either Priesthood or Relief Society meetings. Our children will attend Primary or Young Men’s or Young Women’s. The opportunity that we have to be instructed each week is not one that we should take lightly. I find that I pay better attention during the weeks that I have read the lessons beforehand. As a student I am better prepared to make comments if I have thought about the topic of the … Continue reading
