For the Strength of Youth Series: Education

Education is such an important thing to attain—especially in today’s crazy world. Gone are the days where just working is enough. It seems like more and more, you have to have a degree to find a good job—and an advanced degree for many professions. I feel grateful to have completed my degrees while I was able. I have seen the benefits of my learning come into play time and again in both my professional life and in my personal life. Seasons of Salvation – Dennis Mangrum

When Jake Wolfgramm is asked to teach early morning seminary to a group of at-risk LDS youth, he’s not sure if he can take the challenge. He has something in common with these kids – when he first came from Tonga to the United States, he got off on the wrong foot and was a wild child himself. Now settled down and doing well for himself in college, he wonders if he has what it takes to get through to the class. He decides to accept the challenge, and let the chips fall where they may. Why Memorize?

Yesterday, I suggested that you work on memorizing (or rememorizing) the scripture mastery verses. You may have asked, why? What is the purpose of memorizing scriptures? We know, too, that the Book of Mormon was written by prophets of old especially for our … Continue reading
