Television Good News and Bad News

If you are a fan of “How I Met Your Mother,” you may be happy to hear that the show will have several guest stars this season. In March, look for Jennifer Lopez to play self-help author Anita Appleby, a self-help author who plans to change womanizing Barney into a relationship guy. Also appearing on the show will be Carrie Underwood as Tiffany, Ted’s love interest. If you are a fan of “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race,” you will be happy to hear that both shows have been picked up. CBS announced that there will be at least two more … Continue reading

Reality TV Updates: May 11, 2008

American Idol I had mentioned before that 17-year-old David Archuleta’s dad is reportedly a true stage parent and the rumors are still swirling. An unnamed source has told Associated Press that now that David has made the final three, his dad is officially banned from the rehearsals. Word is that Jeff Archuleta was told by “American Idol” producers that he could no longer join David as he prepares for the show. What cause the producers to finally snap and ban Jeff? According to the AP article, Jeff insisted on a lyric change in the song “Stand by Me,” which David … Continue reading

Survivor China: Say It Ain’t So Denise!

I don’t know how many of you watched the Survivor China finale the other night. There were four remaining Survivors – Denise (the lunch lady), Courtney (the waifish waitress), Todd (the schemer), and Amanda (the beauty queen). The field needed to be whittled down to the final three. Denise knew she was on the outside, but Amanda assured her she would not write her name on the ballot to eliminate her. I mean she said, “I will guarantee you I will not vote for you tonight.” Denise, one of the older competitors on the show, was a fan favorite. Well, … Continue reading

How Is Hatch Surviving Life In The Hatch?

He’s a winner turned loser—-at least that’s how I classify Richard Hatch. In 2000 Hatch became a household name when he won CBS’s first installment of “Survivor.” He walked away with movie star status and earned $1 million dollars. But seven years later, the “survivor” who achieved near-iconic status now says he hates his life. What a difference a few years can make. Last month the 45-year-old granted reporters a rare look into his jailhouse lifestyle. “Jailhouse?” Yup. Hatch now calls a cell at a minimum-security prison in Morgantown, West Virginia—home. In 2006, Hatch was convicted on three counts of … Continue reading

Richard Hatch of ‘Survivor’ Fames Goes to Prison

It seems like we always remember the winner of the first season of any reality show. While the winner of season two and on may fade into obscurity, season one winners often remain in the limelight. Kelly Clarkson won the first “American Idol” and went on to win many Grammys and sell millions of records. Adrianne Curry won the first season of “America’s Top Model” and has been on three VH1 reality shows, been on the cover of many magazines, and recently wed “Peter Brady,” Christopher Knight. And, it seems we all remember Richard Hatch, the often clothes less winner … Continue reading

Summer Lovin’—Wedding Bells Ring for Reality TV Stars

Ah, Summer—the most popular time of the year for couples to tie the knot. So, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to see the wedding bug has bitten a number of reality TV stars. An ex-“Apprentice” contestant and a “Survivor” castaway became July brides yesterday. (Fortunately, neither affair was a televised event. Cough, Trista and Ryan, cough, cough.) The wedding of former “Apprentice” contestant Jennifer Murphy (she was the blonde that Donald Trump referred to as “beautiful” in season 4) was infused with more than just a little dose of reality TV. Not only did Murphy celebrate her nuptials in … Continue reading
