SC Johnson Comes Clean

In a day and age when many people are wondering exactly what is in their cleaning products, SC Johnson has decided to come clean with their ingredients list. Last week, the company launched the website WhatsInsideSCJohnson. The website lists the 200+ ingredients found in the company’s products, including Drano, Shout, and Windex. You may be thinking “So, what’s the big deal?” Well, green activists are pleased because one of their major complaints is that companies such as SC Johnson don’t make full disclosure of the ingredients used. I guess this leads to suspicion by the activists that the some of … Continue reading

Green Day’s Angry and Alec Baldwin’s Sorry

Green Day has just released a new album and it is at the top the charts. However, if you are going to purchase it, you can save yourself a trip to Wal-Mart. The mega chain store is not carrying it. Wal-Mart, as you may know, censors some music. The company wanted Green Day to edit their new album, “21st Century Breakdown,” for language and content. Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer for the group, was not agreeable. In a recent interview, he said “Wal-Mart’s become the biggest retail outlet in the country, but they won’t carry our record because they wanted … Continue reading

New Milk Containers Save Money

Saving money on milk has been a mission of mine. With three kids aged seven and younger and a personal need to keep up my calcium, milk is a steady purchase in our home. As mentioned in previous blogs, I do what I can to save money on milk, from baking with powdered milk to finding the best prices of hormone-free milk. But still, I have witnessed the steady climb of milk from $2.30 a gallon to $4.00 a gallon in a very short time. And, there doesn’t seem an end to the price inflation anytime soon. Fortunately, someone has … Continue reading

Is Shopping at Wal-Mart Frugal? 2

Earlier today, I started talking about the two reasons that I believe that Wal-Mart may not be frugal. There are definitely deals to be had, if you are a smart shopper, but you can also easily spend more money than you thought you might. My first point talked about how those low prices may not be low everywhere and how the store does not price match against itself. Now I’ll talk about my second point, that the majority of items outside of the “hot” or in demand” category may be had less expensively elsewhere. Wal-Mart can get away with prices … Continue reading

Imagine giving your 10-year-old daughter a MP3 video player for Christmas only to find out that it was preloaded with video porn and explicit songs? According to the news report, Daryl Hill purchased an MP3 Player at a Walmart in Sparta, TN, as a gift for his young daughter. In fact, he purchased three of the players for his children. One of the devices was chock full of pornography that had his daughter in tears. “I wish I … Continue reading
