Saving Money on Luxury Summer Vacations

It seems unusual that luxury hotels would be offering bargains this time of year (or at all) given that the folks who frequent ultra-luxe properties probably aren’t pinching pennies the same way most families are. Still, owners of swanky lodgings say to retain business during tough economic times they are not above lowering prices and adding incentives to attract more customers. That’s good news to any traveler looking to score a bargain at a luxurious hotel. If you have always wanted to live like the rich and famous, but couldn’t afford to do so, now’s your chance to go big. … Continue reading

Adventures By Disney: Wyoming Adventure

The seven-day Wyoming adventure begins with your arrival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. You will be met at the airport by your adventure guide where they will take care of your luggage and check you into The Wort Hotel. You’ll share a welcome dinner with the other families who will be sharing your adventure so this is a great time for all to get acquainted. On the second day, you’ll have the morning to yourself to either relax or do a little sightseeing in Jackson. You’ll then meet your group for lunch at the rowdy Jackson Hole Playhouse. Marriage Laws – Wyoming & Montana

After a bit of a break, we’re taking a look at the last few states’ marriage laws on our list – I think we have ten left. Today we’re going up to the northwest to look at the beautiful states of Wyoming and Montana. Did you know that in Montana, if you are under 18, you are required to attend marriage counseling prior to receiving a marriage license? It’s one of the first states that I have encountered this requirement in. Wyoming Wyoming is a fantastic place to host a destination wedding, but whether you travel there or you live … Continue reading

Travel Updates: Dinosaur Museum and Airport Parking

Here’s a quick update on two travel items I wrote about in previous blogs: Wyoming Dinosaur Center In a previous blog I told you about our family’s summer plans to toss dirt around in Thermopolis, Wyoming—home of the Wyoming Dinosaur Center. If that blog didn’t convince you that you too should be giving your child the unique opportunity to dig deep for a piece of history, perhaps this bit of information will. Just a few days ago the center opened its new exhibit featuring a rare birdlike dinosaur specimen. According to experts, the Wyoming Dinosaur Center’s Archaeopteryx specimen is second … Continue reading

Where To Dig For Dinosaurs

If you have a 3-year-old who runs through the house screaming: “Mommy, Mommy, a Camarasaurus is chasing me” (like I do), then it’s time to head to Wyoming. That’s where you’ll find the Wyoming Dinosaur Center. My little one has outgrown the “sandbox” dinosaur dig pit at our local museum and longs to play paleontologist at a larger venue. Digging for a 15-ton long-necked herbivore… well, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. So here we are planning a summer trip to Thermopolis, Wyoming (yeah, who knew?) –located about 80 miles southeast of Cody–to toss some dirt around at the … Continue reading

Marriage Debates: Wyoming Tackles Two Tough Issues

This week, Wyoming’s lawmakers will address two of the toughest issues in politics today, or at least two that tend to generate a great deal of emotion and controversy. State Representative Bob Brechtel (R), and Senator Gerald Geis (R) are in for some heated debate and confrontations. The House Judiciary Committee has endorsed Representative Brechtel’s bill. The Senate Judiciary Committee has endorsed Senator Geis’s bill. Both are slated for debate on the respective floors throughout this week, which promises to bring both those that support and those that oppose these bills to the state Capitol to be heard. Brechtel’s bill … Continue reading

Out of the Shadows . . . Into the Light — Candace E. Salima

Candace E. Salima has written many insightful LDS blogs here on families.com, so many of you are already well familiar with her. She has mentioned her books from time to time, but I noticed that there hasn’t been an actual review, as such, and I thought I would take a moment to do that now, with her first novel, “Out of the Shadows . . . Into the Light.” Caroline Duncan is a rancher in the beautiful rural area of Wyoming. With a comfortable home and good friends, it would seem that Caroline had everything she could want, but the … Continue reading
