American Idol Accused of Racism

The newest season of “American Idol” kicked off with last year’s judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez being replaced with the feuding Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. While some may be talking about the rotating judges, a new controversy has arisen.  Nine former “American Idol” contestants – all African American males – are suing the show, claiming that they were kicked off the show as a part of a racist plot. The former contestants are Corey Clark (Season 2), Jaered Andrews (Season 2), Donnie Williams (Season 3), Terrell Brittenum (Season 5), Derrell Brittenum (Season 5), Thomas Daniels (Season 6), Akron Watson … Continue reading

Nicole Richie Gives Birth and Ellen DeGeneres Replaces Paula Abdul

Just five day’s after attending her ex-fiance DJ AM’s funeral, Nicole Richie gave birth to her second child. She and Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden welcomed son Sparrow James Midnight Madden into the world on September 9th. The baby weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces. His sister, Harlow Winter Kate, was born in January 2008. In something straight out of the “I thought it was really a joke” category is the announcement that Ellen DeGeneres will replace Paula Abdul on “American Idol” as a judge. No, I am not kidding! If you remember, Paula announced last month that she … Continue reading

Is American Idol Rigged?

While the world waits to see if Paula Abdul will return to “American Idol” (she still hasn’t signed a contract even though the auditions for the next season start in early August), there is another “American Idol” storm brewing. The AI Now website had some past contestants conduct an online chat with viewers yesterday, but it seems everyone got more than they bargained for. Contestant Ju’Not Joyner was eliminated early on in the season last year, so I am not sure if he is being truthful or if it is just sour grapes, but he certainly had a lot to … Continue reading

Kris Allen and Adam Lambert’s Bromance

This week, “American Idol” runner up Adam Lambert shocked no one (except maybe a few tweens) when he announced in a Rolling Stone magazine interview that he was gay. Personally, I applaud Adam, Hollywood Life’s Young Hollywood Awards Artist of the Year, for not overshadowing the finale with his announcement and for also not waiting for years to announce the obvious, like former “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken. Adam said he had not regrets about coming clean with his sexuality and was happy with the magazine cover and title (“The Liberation of Adam Lambert”). If you watched the finale of … Continue reading

Is there a Kris Allen Scandal Brewing?

If you watched the season finale of “American Idol,” you may have been shocked that low keyed, humble Kris Allen beat Adam Lambert, the obvious forerunner since – well, about the first day on the big stage. Oddly enough, Kris Allen was surprised when Kris Allen was named the newest American Idol. Now, the New York Times thinks Allen had a little extra help from AT&T in winning the title. Some fans in Arkansas could use their mobile phones to cast blocks of votes for Allen. However, AT&T didn’t provide the same option for Lambert’s fans. Maybe AT&T thought he … Continue reading

American Idol News about Runner-Up Adam Lambert

It has been almost a week since Kris Allen was crowned the latest winner of “American Idol,” but so far, the majority of the news seems to be about the runner-up Adam Lambert. Clay Aiken had some not so nice things to say about the second place finisher in his blog, which only paying members can access. Right after the finale, Aiken said that Lambert’s version of the Johnny Cash classic “Ring of Fire” was “awful,” “contrived,” and “slightly frightening.” He also wrote that while listening to the performance, he thought his ears would bleed. He also went on to … Continue reading

American Idol’s Underdog Kris Allen

Kris Allen snuck into the final thirteen of “American Idol.” I don’t remember seeing his original audition or much, if any, of him during the famed Hollywood week. When he was announced as one of the top thirteen, I think a lot of people went “Huh?” But, Allen has proved his worth by making it to tonight’s finale. Call him the Little Singer that Could. Allen has outlasted everyone else except powerhouse Adam Lambert to make it to the finale. Allen and Lambert’s styles are quite different. Allen looks humble up on the stage no matter what he is doing, … Continue reading

Who is Adam Lambert?

He is one of the most exciting “American Idol” contestants to grace the stage in years, but you may not know too much about Adam Lambert, one of the finalists that will be vying for the title next week. Actually, there isn’t a lot known about Lambert’s pre-Idol life. Yet, if he looks abnormally comfortable on the big stage compared to some of the other contestants, there is a reason. Not only is the 27 year old one of the oldest competitors this season (third place finisher Danny Gokey is 29 and tenth place finisher Michael Sarver is 28), but … Continue reading

DWTS’ First Victim and Paula Abdul’s 1000th Complaint

Dancing with the Stars’ new season hasn’t officially started yet, but the show is already losing celeb hoofers. Sort of. Yesterday Jewel announced that she might be forced to pull out of the TV dance competition due to a knee injury. The show’s eighth season premiere airs in less than two weeks and the singer says she is unsure she will be able to recover in time. Jewel made the announcement on her blog Wednesday saying that doctors diagnosed her with tendonitis in her knees and that she has started a course of medicine to help with the swelling. “I’m … Continue reading

Simon Cowell on Ice and “American Idol” the Movie

Leave it to media hog Simon Cowell to find a grandiose way to keep his legacy alive after his death. According to a new report, the “American Idol” judge is planning to do the world an “invaluable service” by having his body frozen after he dies so he can be brought back to life in the future. I have a feeling he’s not joking. The music mogul reportedly shared his brilliant idea with guests at a private dinner hosted by Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Witnesses say Cowell is dead serious about having his body preserved in liquid nitrogen in … Continue reading
