Fitness Journal – Will The Rain Ever Stop?

It’s raining again – and again and again. Tonight Harry Potter opens and my husband and I want to catch the midnight showing so we can review it prior to letting our daughter see it. Today’s workout was more about focusing on meeting goals as needed than on doing something fun. 30 minutes on the treadmill resulted in just over 2 miles traveled and I’m right on target to maintain my 15 minute mile. I was worn out after the treadmill and skipped my weight training today. I wasn’t feeling well and you may remember that I mentioned my face … Continue reading

Bike Riding for Exercise and Pleasure

I mentioned a week or so ago that I finally got my bike. A friend sold it to me for just fifteen dollars. The bike was in great shape, but we took it to a bike shop for maintenance anyway. My husband picked it up from the shop on Saturday. The brakes are primed, the chain is clean and reset and the wheels are aligned correctly. I was excited to have the bike sitting here in my garage. Stomach Flu and Plans My daughter came down with a bout of stomach flu late on Friday and she spent most of … Continue reading

5 Ways to Tell if In-Line Skating Is For You

Yesterday, I talked about wanting to get a pair of in-line skates and as an aside while I was writing that piece, I bopped in to see my husband to make sure he knew it was on my wish list. Cause you know, it never hurts to ask! Unfortunately, my birthday was back in April so I have to wait for December (but that’s only about 5 months away now). And yes, before you ask, I am one of those people who shops in the summer and stores up for the winter months. But I digress. If you are interested … Continue reading

Your body is working aerobically if you are lungs and heart are working overtime to restore you. Spring Forward to Action 30-Day Challenge – Day 8: Cardio

Good morning! Welcome to the second week of your 30-Day Challenge. How are you feeling today? I hope you had a great day off yesterday. Today we’re going to keep it down to just a cardio workout. Remember, you can exchange time doing one activity for another. For example, if you’re going to be out and about with the kids today and moving briskly. You can exchange that time for your cardio time. The key to the exchange is that you need an elevated heart rate. We’re also going to add a new flavor to our workouts this week, new … Continue reading
