Defining Prosperity

Prosperity is one of my favorite words. In fact, I have it spelled out in little colorful alphabet blocks in a prominent spot in my living room. I love being able to look up from my laptop or reach up to take a book off the shelf and see the colorful word spelled out in block letters: p-r-o-s-p-e-r-i-t-y… I know that many people think of prosperity as simply meaning that you have lots of money. While I cannot argue that money makes my life a little more comfortable in many ways, the word “prosperity” inspires me in my home business … Continue reading

Why Can’t Every Day Be a SUPER Day?

Every so often in my home business, I have what I like to call a SUPER day…I get started early and feel energized, I check things off my to-do list and manage to get all sorts of things done–all while feeling perky and inspired. What I cannot help but wonder, however, is why EVERY DAY cannot be a SUPER DAY?! Have you ever had one of those days where you were just on fire? Everything seemed to go your way and you got so much done that you did what would ordinarily be a week’s worth of work in a … Continue reading

Getting Things Going Again after a Stall

Sometimes, we hit a road block. Things stall or even come to what seems like a complete stop. It can seem incredibly daunting to try to get things going again after such a lull—especially for a single parent. Getting motivated and finding our way out of a situation that has come to a standstill isn’t easy—but it is entirely possible! I do not know how many times I have been humming along in life and suddenly everything changes. Sometimes, it is a gradually slowing down but often times I just hit a roadblock whether at work, with family or in … Continue reading

Sudden Inspiration

Most of the time, I feel like I am working and plugging away at my home business. I don’t necessarily feel bogged down, but I cannot say that I am one of those people who you see on television interviews who claim that they have the “ideal” job and that they are getting paid to play. Usually it is over-paid celebrities who really are playing for pay who say this but occasionally an entrepreneur will share that he is living the work-less dream. That is not me. That is probably whey when I get those sudden bursts of inspiration, it … Continue reading

Get Out of Bed and Get to Work

We often talk about motivation here in the Home Business blog—ways to get energized and stay focused on building our home businesses. Some days, however, we may not feel particularly energized and staying motivated may be a huge challenge. There are those days when what we really need to do is just get ourselves dressed and show up—whether our heart and energy are in it or not. I really do believe that things cannot always be a joy and a romp. I also believe that sometimes, the secret to success and well-being is to simple get up, get out there, … Continue reading

Ad or Art Inspiration Challenges

In previous articles I have discussed how artwork, ads and other items are great inspirational pieces for your layouts. Sometimes it might be a mood or the setting, sometimes the colors used in the ad and sometimes it might even be the entire layout of the ad. I thought that perhaps that by seeing some examples of artwork created using an ad or piece of artwork as the inspiration, it might get you in the mood to try the same. Just as an extra thought, often when I am in a scrap rut, I will grab an ad that I … Continue reading

Why Ever Retire?

I admit that I consider myself part of the “post-retirement” generation. Most of my peers and friends, as well as me—are quite convinced that we are never going to see a cent of the Social Security we have been paying all these years. In fact, I imagine that most of it will go to pay for the burgeoning baby boomers golden years and meanwhile, with the economy the way it is and my ever-depleting supposed retirement account, it looks pretty likely that I will be working to the end. Is this necessarily a bad thing, however? After all, with a … Continue reading

Saturday Layout Challenge – Inspirations

What a beautiful weekend we are having here in the Midwest. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and it is warm and spring like, finally! All of these nice sights made me start thinking about what inspires me. Why not create a layout about your favorite things that inspire you to be a better person, inspire you to create, inspire you to do whatever it is you do. I am a nature nut, so I tend to get inspired by almost anything outdoors. I thought it would be great if I created a layout showing some of my … Continue reading

Breaking the Rules of Scrapbooking

In an earlier article I touched on there being no rules in scrapbooking. I suppose that isn’t exactly true, because there are certainly some thing you should or shouldn’t do. However, it depends on what your reasoning is behind the creation of that layout. You might make layouts because it is an awesome outlet for your creativity. You might like the ability to express yourself through art, and maybe photography and the freedom to do what you want on your layouts leaves you feeling exuberant. Theres is nothing like the feeling of a masterpiece complete when we have finished a … Continue reading
