Hunting for Easter Fun

Easter is a fun-filled holiday for kids of all ages with much of the excitement saved for the traditional egg hunt that serves as the centerpiece of family get-togethers. Of course, for some, “traditional” can translate to “boring.”  If you fear that your upcoming Easter egg hunt may leave your pint-sized guests snoozing rather than shouting with glee, consider the following ideas: Scavenger Hunt:  This hunt requires looking for clues as well as eggs.  Start off by placing an egg next to each clue.  Next, begin the hunt as a group.  The first child who figures out the clue gets … Continue reading

Easter Hats, Easter Eggs and Bunnies

One of the things I used to hate about Easter when the children were at school was the Easter hat parades. Being a non crafty person the mere mention of hat parade or fancy dress was enough to send me into despair. Easter eggs always took a secondary role in Easter celebrations. Easter Eggs or bunnies never appear till Easter Sunday morning. Having two children who were allergic to chocolate when young always put a damper on it. Easter Story Egg Hunt

If your family is Christian, and you want a unique way to share the Easter story, try this Easter Story Egg Hunt. I love this activity because it combines the spiritual message of Easter along with the fun of a traditional egg hunt. What you do is get twelve plastic easter eggs (the kind you can fill with candy) and number them 1 – 12. A permanent marker works well for this, or you can get fancy and use squeeze-tube fabric paints. In each egg, put the corresponding numbered scripture and item. You can write out the scriptures or just … Continue reading

An Easter Egg Hunt With A Christian Twist

As children there are few things more exciting than an egg hunt on Easter morning. This year put a religious spin on your hunt and teach your children the reason Christians celebrate the Easter holiday. Use the following list of ingredients to fill your Easter eggs. Each item symbolizes something from Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection stories in the Bible. 3 dimes – Judas received 30 pieces of silver (Matthew 26:14-16) Cracker – last supper (Matthew 26:17-29) Chocolate kiss – Judas betrayed Christ with a kiss (Matthew 26:47-49) Feather – Peter denied Christ three times before the cock crew (Matthew 26:69-75) … Continue reading
