When Will They Walk?

As milestones go, when your baby begins to walk is considered the hurdle between infant and toddler. After all, a toddler is someone who toddles around and until your baby takes those first few precarious and precious steps – they are still an infant. Too many parents are so eager for each stage that they live and breathe by the recommendations in books like What to Expect in The First Year. Your Child’s Development Pace

I wonder sometimes what is the right pace. My daughter didn’t start walking until she was 18 months old. She didn’t really run until she was 2. Pictures Capture Milestones

Three walls in my house are covered nearly floor to ceiling in nothing but pictures. There are pictures of family, friends, moments and more prevalently our daughter. As I was making coffee this morning, I leaned back against the kitchen counter and started looking at this wall of fame. The majority of the pictures on the wall track my daughter’s progress from about an hour after she was born to her current age of five.
