NFL Teammate Supports Newly Outed Former Player

It seems that one of the hardest things a gay person has to do is come out.  Many wait for just the right moment and often fear that it might alienate family and friends. But, what is you were outed in pubic?   That has to be the worse. That is exactly what happened to Kwame Harris this week.  Harris appeared in court Monday after his former boyfriend, Dimitri Geier, filed a civil suit against him.  Geier is charging the former NFL offensive tackle, who played for the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders, with domestic violence causing great bodily injury … Continue reading

Golden Globes: Did Jodie Foster Come Out?

Last night’s Golden Globes was a great night of pretty dresses, good jokes, lots of drinks, and a few odd moments.  I have to lump Jodie Foster’s speech under the odd category. The actress (who I think is absolutely incredible at her craft) received the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award.  She walked on stage looking stunning – the blue dress was beautiful and matched her eye color perfectly.  She looked gorgeous and young, but reminded the crowd she was 50. The speech itself was rather scattered to me.  She seemed to ramble about her age … Continue reading

Should Gay Couples Adopt?

Even though my news alert folder has been filled with stories about this, I was not planning to write about it. I like to write about things that touch my heart in some way. I like to write about things that I can relate to a story from my past or something I’ve seen or read. I don’t want to go out of my way to be provocative and controversial. What is the controversial issue that I am so loath to cover, you might ask? Gay couples not being allowed to adopt. I’ve been getting stories from all over the … Continue reading

Clay’s Gay

Call it the anti-news flash. The former “American Idol” runner-up is coming out of the closet appearing on the cover of the latest issue of People magazine holding his newborn son with the headline: “Yes, I’m Gay.” Yes, we know. Is Aiken’s revelation really front-page news? Seriously, was there any indication that the multiplatinum recording artist and Broadway star wasn’t gay? Is it really as big a “secret” as People makes it out to be? And who really cares anyway? The new issue doesn’t hit newsstands until Friday, but People posted a “sneak peek” of their interview with Aiken on … Continue reading

Ricky Martin “Outed” By Pal, Jodie Foster Hints at “Outting”

It was a secret… or was it? Ricky Martin fans, who for years have speculated that the hunky singer was gay, got quasi-confirmation of their presumption earlier this week. Martin’s stylist all but confirmed the singer’s sexuality in a recently published Swedish magazine article in which he is quoted as saying that he would love to live La Vida Loca with his client. According to the magazine, Martin’s skincare expert Ole Henriksen accidentally “outed” the sexy singer during a magazine interview. The Scandinavian beautician, who openly admits to being gay, was asked who he’d most like to spend a romantic … Continue reading

Harry’s Author Reveals Big Secret

Was it really a secret? Hard core Harry Potter, you should know. I mean, really, how many of you were that surprised when J.K. Rowling revealed last night that one of her main characters, Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, is gay. According to news reports, it shocked the heck out of thousands of fans who gathered to engage in a Q& A session with Rowling at Carnegie Hall Friday night. After reading portions from her final book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the mega-selling author fielded questions from devoted Potter fans. One young fan asked Rowling whether Dumbledore finds “true … Continue reading

Gay Parents: Less Than Optimal?

Ohio legislators are trying to make their mark with a newly proposed bill aimed at restricting homosexual or bi-sexual adults from foster parenting or adopting children. Although this bill is not likely to pass, it still gives reason to pause and consider: should homosexual adults be allowed to parent? Studies, it is said, have shown that the “optimal” environment in which to raise a child is one with a mother and a father. These studies have come under fire for their accuracy. But let’s, for a moment, say they are accurate. How many children of straight parents are raised in … Continue reading
