Vermont has the Healthiest Kids

We all want our kids to be healthy! It appears that the state of Vermont is doing very well towards making that hope a reality. Data gathered by the Centers for Disease Control about the Green Mountain State shows that Vermont has the healthiest kids in America. How does what Vermont is doing compare to your state? The Centers for Disease Control’s Data Resource Center released a survey called The National Survey of Children’s Health. It took the results of the survey and presented them in a way that made it more accessible to parents (as well as other researchers … Continue reading

New Incentive to Get Parents to Walk Kids to School

What would it take for you to carve time out of your hectic schedule to walk your children to school? That practice halted a few months ago when I read one regular serving of the delicious drink contained more sugar than is recommended by the USDA to consume in one day. … Continue reading

TV Network Tells Kids: “Go Outside and Play”

When I asked him what he was most looking forward to doing during his break from school he replied: “Sleeping late, playing basketball, and watching TV.” (Though, not necessarily in that particular order.) How many kids do you know who have opted to lounge in front of a TV instead of by a pool? Well, if their channel surfing lands them on the cable network Nickelodeon they’re in for a rude awakening. … Continue reading
