The Genealogy of LOST

The television show LOST started in 2004 and ended in 2010, capturing the attention of millions of devoted fans along the way. It was the kind of show that kept viewers guessing about everything. Little clues were revealed along the way that provided insight into exactly how the characters were related to each other. I thought it would be interesting to apply a little genealogy to the relationships between several of the characters in the show. If you are someone who has not yet managed to finish watching this television series, and have somehow been able to avoid finding out … Continue reading

Shopping With a Toddler

Have you ever lost sight of your toddler when you’re out and about? I’ve come across small children separated from their parents while shopping. When I do, I talk to the child to calm him down and then find the closest employee to facilitate the reunion. I figure an employee is in a better position to help. My toddler is at the age where she wants to walk everywhere. She doesn’t want to sit in the seat of the cart. It is much simpler and faster for me to plunk her in the seat and strap her in. She, on … Continue reading

The Continuing Writers Strike—What’s Happening with Your Favorite Shows?

It doesn’t look like striking Writers Guild of America members will be having a very merry Christmas this year. Prospects for a compromise came to an abrupt halt when talks collapsed last week. What’s more, no new negotiations are scheduled. So, now that we know that it is very, very unlikely that a new deal will be reached by the end of the year what does this all mean for your winter TV viewing? Most of the major networks are keeping tight-lipped about their plans for the first few months of 2008, except for ABC. Big wigs at the Disney … Continue reading

Pop Culture Potpourri: Cool New Toys For Kids and Cool New Names For Babies

NEW TOYS I was beginning to feel the TV show “Lost” was some how getting lost in ABC’s primetime line-up. But it’s summer and the network is experimenting with some seasonal programs so all is not “lost” yet. According to network execs, new episodes of the show will begin airing in the fall. Until then fans of the hit show will have to make do with a new set of “Lost” action figures. Four more character replicas recently joined the first group that came out last year. Just released to stores are Sawyer (played by Josh Holloway), Jin (Daniel Dae … Continue reading

Lost Five Times Over

I am probably the only person in America who has yet to see the television show, Lost. I feel like I should either join a support group and start therapy immediately, or go crawl back under my rock. The only excuse I have is that I have three small children at home and that by the time they have everything they need and are tucked in bed, by the time the house is reset back to the way it was, why I am just ready to pop myself in bed and read a good book for a few minutes before … Continue reading

A Thief-Proof “Screaming” Cellphone

Save your voice. If your cellphone is snatched by a thief it will do the screaming for you. A new service launched yesterday is designed to deter cellphone theft by equipping mobile phones with an ear-piercing scream. Better yet, the screaming won’t stop unless the battery is removed. If you have ever had your cellphone snatched you know what an incredible invention this is. You can thank a British cellphone manufacturer called Sychronica for the new technology. According to their website, the company develops and markets synchronization and device management solutions for mobile operators, device manufacturers, and enterprises. Which of … Continue reading
