Mothers Determine How Well Father Takes Care of Baby

When it comes to how involved fathers are in caring for their infants, it seems that moms are the gatekeepers. According to a study published in the Journal of Family Psychology this past June, mothers play a critical role in determining how much and how well a father takes care of his infant. The study took a look at 97 families who had infants. After accessing numerous factors, such as what the parents believed about gender and paternal roles, the study found an interesting result. How much the mother encouraged the father to care for the infant was the single … Continue reading

Celebrities Not the Only Ones Seeing Double

They aren’t exactly in the same league as Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Lopez, but two sisters in Michigan are making headlines of their own since giving birth to daughters last week. Sarah Sweeter’s trip to visit her pregnant sister in Homer, Michigan was made even sweeter last week when she got to join her sibling in the delivery room to witness her niece being born. Being the Mom I Never Had to My Mom

I have Families.com reader Skaytes, who left a comment on my article “Big Changes in a Little Marriage”, to thank for inspiring me during my daily caregiving duties. She had been in a similar position with her mom that I now find myself in. She said it was the best thing she’d ever done. Enjoy the time you have with her as we never know how long the Good Lord will give … Continue reading

If you’re a single mom, hit McDonald’s if you can’t afford to go for a sit down dinner, but definitely avoid your kitchen at all costs. Moms with big kids, spouses, or significant others, sit down. Somebody else can do all the stuff you usually do, and … Continue reading

A Mother’s Ministry

As a stay-at-home-mom I have questioned the significance of my role as well as the position God would have me in regard to the body of Christ. Recently I’ve really begun to discover the role God has given me as a mother in ministry. There is no other person who currently spends more time with my children than I do. I may have the most influence in their little lives. As they grow … Continue reading
