Are Photo Albums Old-Fashioned?

One of my most valued possessions is my collection of photo albums. My mother did an excellent job of capturing our lives in photographs, and an even more excellent job of organizing them into albums. No, she didn’t scrapbook, as many often do these days. She put them all in a row in regular albums. I have one album for every two years of my life. I’ve continued the tradition with our daughter. As I look around at other families, I sometimes feel old-fashioned for continuing the tradition. It seems that most families today are doing one of two things: … Continue reading

Your Dad’s Photo on the Cover of a Magazine

If you are looking for the perfect Father’s Day photo gift then you’ve come to the right place. While some men are more willing to admit it than others I doubt there are many dads out there who haven’t dreamed of seeing their photo grace the cover of a magazine. Some dads would kill to see their faces on the cover of Sports Illustrated or Golf Digest (or in my brother’s case—-SURFING Magazine). Heck, I know some dads who wouldn’t mind seeing their mugs on the cover of GQ magazine. Regardless of your dad’s preference in periodicals there is a … Continue reading

Review of Digital Picture Frames (2)

Continuing on my research path of digital photo frames, I wanted to share the other two great finds I found. While I do not personally own these, I have been considering purchasing one and have done some pretty intensive research. Earlier, I told you about a frame in a Review of Digital Picture Frames (1) that I really liked because of its price and features, but now I’d like to discuss two other great frames I found. Kodak Easy Share Digital Picture Frames These tend to be on the more expensive side. They are available in both a standard version … Continue reading

Review of Digital Picture Frames (1)

The latest craze in digital photo technology seems to be the release of these wonderful digital frames that display your digital photographs in a rotation of sorts. They are the latest fad and I am sure that you have seen them in the stores or even thought about buying one. I decided to research them and find out whatever I could on the different frames, and provide to you a guide to purchasing one. However, since I am still in the researching phase myself, instead I thought I would provide a small review of my favorites that I have found … Continue reading

Say Cheese! Picture People Free Portrait

In September of 2001, on a whim I had the kids’ photo taken at a Picture People in the mall. They needed haircuts and their clothes weren’t new, but it was to be a surprise for daddy. Cute photo of them holding flags and stars, and wearing red, white, and blue. Two days later 9/11 happened. To me, the picture will always remind me of that tragedy. It’s what photos are for, really. To take us back to a snapshot in time. Sophia Loren had a portrait taken of her son every day of his childhood. What a wonderful idea! … Continue reading

Coupon Book for Mom

You may have seen this idea before, but I really like this one. Make up a cool coupon book for Mom, and let her redeem her special coupons for lots of hugs, help with chores and maybe a nice neck or shoulder massage. Get creative with coupon ideas and make them for thoughtful things that your mom will appreciate. Don’t just write your ideas out on paper; make the coupons really fancy. Decorate them nicely and add personal messages that let Mom know how much she means to you. Add little pictures too, if you like. If two siblings are … Continue reading

Could Your Child Win a Photo Contest?

As parents we all think we have the cutest, most talented children alive, at least I know I do. You are sure that if just discovered your child’s picture could be gracing the cover of a magazine or smiling back at you from the T.V. screen. But unless you live on the West or East Coast it is difficult to get your child discovered. You might be wondering how you can get your child recognized. One way is through the website The Cute Kid.com. Their theme is “Smile. Snap. Show the World.” The Cute Kid.com is a website that allows … Continue reading
