A Playdate with Exercise

As the summer heats up, we have been scheduling our play dates earlier in the day if they involve being outside in the heat. This past week the temperatures reached highs of just over one hundred degrees but we were able to avoid the discomfort of such high temperatures by going out early in the morning. On one of our recent playdates we made plans to go to the only lake within the city’s limit. This lake has a lot of nice features. It has a beach for swimming and sand for playing as well as a good sized playground. … Continue reading

Interesting Baubles for Genealogists to Play With

Genealogists love working on family research, (even when it gets somewhat frustrating). Sometimes, though, it is good to take a break. Have some fun checking out these genealogy related “baubles”. They don’t come with a search engine, but they might be fun to play around with. I have decided to call this list of genealogy related fun items “baubles” for two reasons. One, I like that the word sounds like something from the past. When was the last time you heard someone use the word “baubles” in a sentence? The other reason I am calling these things “baubles” is because … Continue reading

“Blinkie” and Tear Pad Coupons – Great Double Deals!

Some of the sources of coupons that are great to use are right there in the store! Look for “blinkie” dispensers, which have coupons by the product on the shelf and have a blinking light to get your attention. Look also for tearpads. These are great sources of promotions. Blinkies are often short dated and expire within a month or so, but tearpad coupons will have varying expiration dates. I visited Publix yesterday, and without too much effort, here is a list of the coupons I picked up while I was there: Blinkies: Biz Laundry Detergent $1 Exp 3/15/10 Egg … Continue reading

Cancer-stricken actor Patrick Swayze is finally setting the record on his health. According to the “Ghost” star, fans shouldn’t believe what they read in tabloids. Swayze says he is responding well to treatment for pancreatic cancer and “feels great.” The actor issued a public statement to PEOPLE magazine yesterday saying that he continues to live a full and busy life despite being diagnosed with the insidious disease. The statement read in part: “Thought I’d give you guys a little update. Lisa and I have been back and forth from New Mexico enjoying the arrival of spring and new baby calves. … Continue reading

Star Baby Updates

Former Family Ties star Tina Yothers has just added another member to her real family. The actress, who played Michael J. Fox’s younger sister on the popular NBC series, gave birth to a baby boy on Monday. The actress’s rep says Yothers and her husband welcomed 8.8-pound Jake Kaiser at an Orange County hospital. This is the second child for the couple. They are already proud parents to daughter, Lilly, 2, and two sons from Kaiser’s previous marriage. You’ll recall the 34-year-old actress is also a Celebrity Fit Club winner. Yothers donned a bikini for the first time in more … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Nicole Engaged?

Funny, I thought she has been engaged for a while. Silly me. I guess I thought that Joel Madden had asked Nicole Richie for her hand in marriage the day he found out she was pregnant with his child… but, apparently not. According to numerous reports, the Good Charlotte singer proposed to his baby’s mama on Thursday. The quasi-announcement came last night after Madden and his band played a gig in Virginia. As Madden was walking off stage a local radio deejay announced to the crowd: “He got engaged yesterday. Congratulations, Joel!” Upon hearing the cheers from the crowd Madden … Continue reading

Support Your Team! Russell Athletic Sweatshirt AND T-shirt for $19.99

The higher the prices get for professional sports teams, the more interesting college teams become. I played college ball, both softball and basketball. For basketball, I was the 20/20 man. Do you know what that is? It’s the guy (or girl) who gets to play when the team is either twenty points ahead or twenty points behind. It’s because I wasn’t that good a shot. I’d been allowed to play basketball with my brothers when I was growing up as long as I passed the ball to one of them when it was time to make a basket. Still, I … Continue reading

The Girls

My sister and I were really excited when we learned that we both were pregnant with baby girls! Our daughters are a mere three months apart. When my daughter was a newborn that three month difference seemed immense, but now that they are both equally mobile that gap has narrowed quite a bit. We love getting our girls together to for play dates as often as we can, which usually ends up being several times a week now that they live nearby (instead of ten hours away). Not only do my sister and I have a great time during our … Continue reading

The Future is the Present Before You Know It

I went to the park with my toddler and my baby today, and had a great time. The weather was beautiful and we met some friends there. Usually, my little man loves to be outside, and sit in his stroller and watch the other kids run around. Today, I got a little glimpse into future park play dates. Recently, my baby has gotten to be quite squirmy. He wants to be on the move even though he can’t even crawl yet! He is rolling over though, and I’ve decided really needs his space. He kept fussing in the stroller for … Continue reading
