Adapting Sketches

Using sketches when creating your scrapbook layouts can save you a lot of time. You can use sketches from other scrapbookers or create your own. A sketch is a drawing showing the outline of where you will place items on the page. For example, you draw where you will place your photos, patterned paper and embellishments. This past weekend I had the great opportunity to attend the Creating Keepsakes Convention here in Arizona. This has been an annual tradition for me for the past six years. I was able to enjoy time with friends while attending some fun classes and browsing around the vendor faire. One of the classes I attended was a layout sketches class taught by Becky Higgins. Scrapbooking becomes more complicated everyday. With all the new techniques to try and new embellishments and styles, it’s so hard to keep up. Using sketches to create layouts, is a fast and simple way to get more done. Several years ago, Becky Higgins of Creating Keepsake’s fame, came up with an idea for sketches, which are penciled drawings (or sometimes digitally created), that provide the “basic recipe” for a scrapbook page.
