Frank the Shotgun Riding Duck

Last week my friend Kim (of adopted Rocky the cat notoriety) sent me an article from 9news.com, one of her local news stations’ websites. She lives in Denver, but the story was about a duck in Minneapolis named Frank and his duck-hunting owner Joe Mansheim. When he’s not hunting ducks, Joe drives a truck. He delivers construction materials. Frank the duck “helps” him. Why does Joe have a duck for a sidekick instead of something more traditional like a dog? Are You Contemplating Selling Your SUV?

If you are, you certainly aren’t alone. In a country where the average price of a gallon of unleaded fuel is $4.05, many gas guzzling SUVs are getting kicked to the curb by their owners. The only problem is once they get to the curb they often sit there for a while. Last week the General Motors plant located not far from my home announced it would be closing because of soft sales on SUVs and large trucks. Fairy Tales with a Spin – the Picture Books of David Gordon

While at the library the other day, I happened upon a darling series of children’s books written and illustrated by David Gordon. “The Three Little Rigs” is the story of three little rigs (amazing how that works) who live with their mother rig. She tells them that the time has come for them to go out and find their own garages. The first rig builds his garage out of wood, and then the big, bad wrecking ball comes along. Oh, no.
