Ignorance Continues

I have to admit that I am like just about everyone else out there. When I feel like something, or someone I love is attacked, I want to defend. It is no different when wanting to defend my own religion. When I was in high school, I distinctly remember sitting around with a handful of friends and the subject of religion came up. I grew up in Texas, so when it came to religion, I was always the minority. In a school of 2500 students, there were only a handful of us, maybe 5 or 6, that were LDS. So, … Continue reading

I’m a Mormon!

Have you seen the church’s series on Mormon’s introducing themselves on www.mormon.org? What a great idea! I’ve been seeing these all over Facebook too. Not only is it a great missionary tool, but what I love about it is how it shows the world that Mormons are just like everybody else! Well, we aren’t in our religious beliefs maybe, but in our everyday lives, we have a lot in common with those around us. I love how you can click on different Mormon’s profiles on this site and read about everyday members of the church. But, I especially love how … Continue reading

When I was looking a various genealogy resources online a few weeks ago, I came across a web site that is maintained by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I later found out that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints maintains the largest genealogical research library in the world. Today, I decided to look into why genealogical research is so important to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have cousins that belong to the Church, and I am interested in learning about how our family history is important to … Continue reading

Information on the Church

Today I was visiting the church’s website looking for something new to write about. I stumbled upon the Encyclopedia of Mormonism, which is available online. This is a very interesting find. It covers many aspects of Mormonism, with self-reflective look at the culture and beliefs of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One of the best things about this book is that most of the authors are LDS and so you can learn from them what they really believe. Although the Encyclopedia is no longer available, you can access it online. It is still being update … Continue reading

New LDS Website

The church has launched a new website. It is still currently in beta and you can visit it here. The site will take the place of the current one by the end of this year. The site design has been improved. As I looked over the site I saw a lot of features which made the site more user friendly. One particular thing that I liked was the as you click on a link, the sub-menu pops open instead of going to the page. This is helpful if you are not sure in what area the information your are looking … Continue reading

The first category is “The Church.” This section talks about the basic beliefs of the church as well as … Continue reading

Hell May Pour Forth

“Hell may pour forth its rage like the burning lava of mount Vesuvius, or of Etna, or of the most terrible of the burning mountains; and yet shall ‘Mormonism’ stand. Water, fire, truth and God are all realities. Truth is ‘Mormonism.’ God is the author of it. He is our shield. It is by Him we received our birth. It was by His voice that we were called to a dispensation of His Gospel in the beginning of the fullness of times. It was by Him we received the Book of Mormon; and it is by Him that we remain … Continue reading
