The Best Type of Binder for Household Notebooks

What is the best type of binder for household notebooks? This question has actually been asked to me a lot in my days of spreading the word about our family central binder. The place where the whole family can find almost any information they need. However, the question posed is a good one, because the type of notebook is important.

1” Binder is the bare minimum size that I would recommend. This usually allows a household with maybe one child or two children to maintain a good record for the family.

My families binder is a 3” binder. Yes. It is huge. I started with a 1” Binder. Then I moved to two 1” Binders. Then before long I decided it would be nice to condense them, so I purchased a 2” binder. That worked for several years as a family of three, and we stored almost everything in it. When I became a family of seven, there was some serious additions to the binder, and we decided a 3” binder worked best for us.

It does not matter the brand, however shopping around for a good brand can save you a lot of money in the long run. The cheaper, less sturdy brands tend to break or get soft over time. This can mean replacing the binder often, especially if you refer to it daily like we do.

Paying a little more for a larger, sturdier binder is a frugal choice simply because it means it will last, it can hold a lot and you won’t spend money on a new binder every few years, and hopefully it will last indefinitely.
