The Reality Show Divorce Curse Continues

Okay, if you are a celebrity, just say “no” to a reality series. Seriously – Posh Spice, are you listening? Yet another celebrity couple who let the television camera into their lives is divorcing.

“Partridge Family” kid Danny Bonaduce (the redheaded precocious one) and his wife Gretchen have announced they are filing for divorce. The couple has been married for sixteen years and they have two children, a 12-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. Gretchen filed for divorce Tuesday morning under irreconcilable differences. Danny announced on “The Adam Carolla Show” that he did not want a divorce and still loved Gretchen, but apparently, the couple had been talking about divorce for months.

The couple married on December 6, 1990 after a whirlwind romance. They met on a blind date on November 4, 1990 and married a little over a month later. In 2005, the couple starred in the reality show “Breaking Bonaduce,” which televised their relationship (including therapy for infidelity) as well as his struggle to recover from alcohol dependency and a rehab stint. If you ever watched the series, the announcement of the couples divorce may not strike you as a surprise. The series also showed such moments as Danny’s return to drinking, his taking steroids, his anger issues, and his threats of suicide.

So just how many couples have fallen victim to the supposed reality show marriage curse? Hum, let’s see:

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey – Starred together in “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica” from 2003 – 2005, divorced in June 2006.

Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro – Starred together in “Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave” in 2004, divorced in February 2007.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline – Starred together in “Britney and Kevin: Chaotic” in 2005, divorced pending in April 2007.
