Scan through the news this week, and you are sure to find the word “sequester” popping up a lot. If Congress cannot manage to come to an agreement about how to balance the budget, it will result in a lot of funding cuts beginning on March 1, 2013. * Loss of $11 million in funding for primary and secondary education
* 150 teacher and aide jobs at risk
* Additional loss of $9 million in funds for 110 teachers, aides, and staff who help kids with disabilities
Alaska
* Loss of $1.5 million in funding for primary and secondary education
* 20 teacher and aide jobs at risk
* Additional loss of $1.9 million in funds for 20 teachers, aides, and staff who help kids with disabilities
Arizona
* Loss of $17.7 million in funding for primary and secondary education
* 240 teacher and aide jobs at risk
* Additional loss of $10 million in funds for 120 teachers, aides, and staff who help kids with disabilities
Arkansas
* Loss of $5.9 million in funding for primary and secondary education
* 80 teacher and aide jobs at risk
* Additional loss of $5.6 million in funds for 70 teachers, aides, and staff that help kids with disabilities
California
* Loss of $87.6 million in funding for primary and secondary education
* 1,210 teacher and aide jobs at risk
* Additional loss of $62.9 million in funds for 760 teachers, aides, and staff who help kids with disabilities
Colorado
* Loss of $8.7 million in funding for primary and secondary education.
* 120 teacher and aide jobs at risk
* Additional loss of $6.3 million in funds for 80 teachers, aides, and staff who help kids with disabilities
Delaware
* Loss of $1.4 million in funding for primary and secondary education
* 20 teacher and aide jobs at risk
* Additional loss of $1.8 million in funds for 20 teachers, aides, and staff who help kids with disabilities
District of Columbia
* Loss of $533,000 in funding for primary and secondary education
* Additional loss of $925,000 in funds for teachers, aides, and staff who help kids with disabilities
Florida
* Loss of $54.5 million in funding for primary and secondary education
* 750 teacher and aide jobs at risk
* Additional loss of $31.1 million in funds for 380 teachers, aides, and staff who help kids with disabilities.
