Many home – based professional parents are able to work the hours that they do because their children go to school. However, school is not a year – round activity. When summer comes, home – based professional parents must decide what they would like to do with their work schedule.
Sometimes, it is possible for a parent to scale back their work during the summer months so that they can spend a lot of time with their children. There’s also the option of hiring a babysitter or a parent’s helper to take care of the kids for a few hours each day, or even just a couple of days each week depending upon what kind of schedule you choose to create. Summer programs and camps provide additional options for kids of all ages.
Camps and summer programs can be a great way for your kids to have fun, make new friends, and learn new things. Even if your children attend only a session or two of camp during the summer, you can use that time to get a good amount of work done. There are so many different camps and programs out there that it can be hard to choose, especially if you live in an area where there are quite a few programs available.
If you would like to know what kinds of camps are available for your children, KidsCamps.com is a very useful web site. You can look at the different camps that are located in your geographic area. I was amazed at the variety of camps that are offered in some places – I live in Vermont, and while there are some great camps here including some specialty camps like horseback riding camp, tennis camp and even a circus camp, the variety is not as great as can be found elsewhere.
Where will your kids be going to camp this summer? Will they try a day camp, overnight camp, sports camp, theater camp, science camp, or something else entirely? My little guys are still a bit small for camp but I can foresee a time when choosing summer activities for them will be a lot of fun.
