The Southern California Genealogical Society Jamboree will take place on June 8, June 9, and June 10 of 2012. There will also be a Pre-Event day on June 7, 2012. This one will be the forty-third annual SCGS Jamboree. There will be plenty of things happening on Day Three of the event. I picked out a few that I thought sounded really interesting.
The SCGS has posted a schedule that shows you details about all of the things that will be happening on Day Three of the event. There could be changes to that schedule between now, and in June, when the Jamboree will happen. As I suggested before when I blogged about Day One and Day Two of the Jamboree, I would suggest that you take a look at the schedule again when we get closer to the event.
Bruce Busby will hold a class called “What’s New in RootsMagic5”. This class will give you an introduction to RootsMagic5, which is the newest version of this genealogy software. You can learn about new features including Timeline View, Research Logs, CountyCheck, and Media tagging. He will also go over the things that appeared in the previous version of the software, but that have been enhanced for the new version.
George G. Morgan will hold a class called “All about the Census – Becoming an Expert”. This is an in-depth seminar that is for genealogists who want to improve their understanding of the Federal census records of all types.
Geoff Rasmussen will hold a class called “Improving Your Use of New FamilySearch”. This class will teach you better ways to use the new version of the FamilySearch website. You can learn how to use your personal data for improved searching and sharing. You will learn about standardization methods, locating potential problems, and ways to clean up your data.
Daniel Horowitz will hold a class called “Family Tree Builder 6.0”. He goes over the new stuff that is in the latest version of the Family Tree Builder software. There are new ways to work on, edit, research, and showcase your family tree. It has a consistency checker, improved privacy tools, and a search and replace functionality.
Tom Underhill will hold a class called “Making a Quality Family History Video With Your Cell Phone”. Learn what you need to know to be able to shoot and edit a great family history video right from your smart phone or iPad. These skills will help you to take advantage of unexpected opportunities to record and share family history stories as told by your relatives.
Laura G. Prescott will hold a class called “There’s an App for That!” She goes over the many different genealogy related apps that are available for iPad, iPhone, or Android devices. These apps will help you to do your genealogy research while you are on the go.
