Are you planning a big wedding? There are a lot of people who spend more than a year figuring out every little detail about exactly how they want their wedding to be. Making this happen can cost thousands of dollars. Wedding insurance can give you some protection in case something goes wrong.
Later on this week, I will be flying halfway across the country to attend my sister’s wedding. This will be my first experience being a bridesmaid. So far, I am amazed by how many little tiny details bridesmaids have to deal with.
I purchased the dress, and found shoes to go with it. I’ve had the dress altered so it will fit me as it should. My husband made our travel arrangements, (including our flight there, our return flight, and the hotel arrangements). There has been a hair appointment made for me, and I have been forewarned that the hair salon has been acting “snooty” about things, already, days in advance.
I am exhausted. I cannot imagine what brides go through in order to get every single tiny little detail about their wedding arranged. When my husband and I got married, we just went to the courthouse. It was quick, easy, and stress free. It was also a lot less expensive than having a big wedding would have been.
Anytime someone is going to invest large sums of money into something, it is a good idea to get some sort of insurance protection on it. Brides-to-be may want to purchase some wedding insurance, just in case something unexpectedly goes wrong.
The more complex you make something, the more chances there are that things will not go exactly as you planned them. The photographer could lose your photos. The shop holding the dresses could burn up and destroy the gowns that you spent so much time picking out, (and so much money buying). The list goes on and on.
I wouldn’t be a bad idea to at least consider getting wedding insurance. WedSafe is one of the insurers who sells wedding insurance policies. Wedding insurance probably would be considered as a “speciality insurance”. This means that the company you bought your car insurance from, or your homeowner’s policy from, might not sell wedding insurance.
In general, wedding insurance has two parts. Wedding Event insurance covers things like: postponement of the wedding due to severe weather, accident, or sudden illness, vendors who don’t show up, lost photographs, and damage to the wedding gown. It will cover the financial loss that would result if the bride or groom was in the military, and faced the potential of having their approved leave cancelled.
Wedding Liability insurance is the other portion of the policy. You might need this if the venue your reception will be held at is requiring you to have your own liability insurance policy. This is the policy to have if you are concerned about the potential of someone suing you due to an “alcohol related accident”. If your reception is including an open bar, you might want to consider this type of insurance policy.
