Today, I am going to talk about hotel accommodations. My frugal self would at first logic choose cheap hotel accommodations, and use the money elsewhere. It is all about the budget, right? Recently, I went against that inclination, and it worked out very well.
My friend and I choose a better-end hotel for our one-night stay, and we were very happy with our decision. Not only was the room beautiful, but there were a lot of free perks to our choice, from unlimited free bottles of water we could carry around the city (saving $2-3 a pop had we purchased them on the street) and complimentary coffee and snacks whenever we wanted them, to a central location which saved us on transportation and time. We also got discounts on some of the things we wanted to do, just because of an agreement between the hotel and the event companies. There were many other perks, too.
Of course, we still wanted to bring the cost of the accommodations down as much as possible. Months before, there was a lot of research done to figure out how to get the lowest price for our chosen place. Taking this time was well worth it. We wound up reserving the room through my friend’s place of business, since that was the cheapest and the easiest option. There were plenty of other ways to get discounts, as well. In the case of accommodations, research ahead of time really does pay off.
