Yoga Supplies: Yoga Kits

Yoga kits are sold in department stores, yoga studios, big box stores and online. There are several different types of kits, but most contain supplies needed in a typical hatha yoga class.

What is included in the kit will depend on several factors, including the type of kit, level and type of yoga practice for which it is intended and price. When comparing yoga kits, be sure to check the full listing of the products included to make the right choice.

Most of the kits sold in big box stores and department stores are beginner’s yoga kits. These generally contain a yoga mat and several props to get you started in your practice. If you are new to yoga and want most of the props, these can be a good deal.

Beginners’ kits come with props often needed by beginners. These kits usually come with a mat and blocks and straps. Many come with a yoga DVD that has a gentle practice that is suitable for beginners. Other things that can be included are posters and photographs of poses, booklets and other written materials designed to assist you in your practice.

Specialty kits are available for specific types of yoga practices. One that you may see if you shop online is a kit that is designed for restorative yoga. These kits come with a strap, bricks and other props that are designed to help you relax and restore your body, mind and spirit.

Yoga kits often come with a yoga bag, which can be used to carry your mat, props and accessories to your yoga class. At home, the bag is handy for storage. The quality of the bags varies widely. Generally speaking, more expensive kits tend to come with high quality bags.

To determine if the deal is really good, you need to carefully compare the products in each kit. Look at not only what is included, but the types of products used. For example, a kit with an all natural, non toxic yoga mat is likely to cost more than a kit with a cheap mat.

Only you can decide if you want to shop by price or the quality of the products in the kit. If you practice yoga regularly and plan to continue, spending a little more for a kit with the products you really want to use
