Yours… IF The Price Is Right

If you missed Bob Barker’s last appearance (maybe) on “The Price is Right” this morning, don’t worry CBS plans to rebroadcast it tonight prior to the Daytime Emmy Awards.

BUT (and this is a big BUT) if you want to bid on the legendary game show host’s microphone you only have to the end of Barker’s repeat broadcast to do so.

For those of you non-die-hard Barker fans, the man who has been kissed on the cheek by excited contestants on more occasions than he cares to remember stands to make eBay history. The retiring game show host’s long, skinny, and antiquated microphone (the one he used from 1992 to 2002) is being auctioned on eBay with the proceeds going (of course) to an animal rights charity.

The current bid is sitting at more than $20,000. A far cry from the $1,000 that show producer’s thought the item would bring in. The man in charge of the auction says that the microphone was custom-made from salvaged parts by CBS engineers, but died in the early 90s.

Barker’s microphone, which is also considered a piece of television history can be yours IF the price is right… and as an added bonus if you are the winning bidder you will also get a mic cord to drag around your bedroom—the very same cord that Barker let slink around “The Price is Right” stage.

In other “Price is Right” news… You can drop Rosie O’Donnell’s name from the list of contenders to replace Barker. Months ago (long before she decided not to renew her “View” contract and then left early after an altercation with Elisabeth Hasselbeck) O’Donnell revealed that her ultimate dream job was to “host the game show, “The Price is Right.”

“I want ‘The Price is Right,’ but no one has offered me ‘The Price is Right,’” O’Donnell admitted to reporters last year.

In fact, O’Donnell said that her contract with “The View” would actually allow her to take over Bob Barker’s job if it was offered to her. In an effort to set the record straight, O’Donnell addressed the matter this week on her blog telling fans that she was not asked by show producers to replace the retiring game show host.

“Apparently they don’t want me, which is sort of sad because I had visions for ‘The Price is Right,’” Rosie joked.

One of them was to move the show to New York so she wouldn’t have to commute to California. The other was to replace “Barker’s (female) Beauties” with O’Donnell’s male ones.

Gee, I can’t imagine why producers wouldn’t want her replacing Barker…
