Week 15 of Pregnancy

Welcome to the 15th week of pregnancy! To the outside world you may not appear pregnant yet, but on the inside you may be ready to let the rest of the world know of your newest arrival. Chances are you may be too big for your regular clothes, and too small for most maternity fashions. Hang in there- it will just be a matter of weeks before everyone is rubbing your tummy for good luck.

What you may be experiencing

While many moms feel a renewed sense of energy during the second trimester, many moms may still feel tired. This is especially true, if you have other children or responsibilities to take care of. Try to catch some extra sleep whenever and wherever you can- you won’t be able to sleep once the baby comes.

Your clothes are likely getting tighter with each passing day, and it is smart to choose loose fitting outfits that give a little. If this isn’t your first baby, you may be well into maternity clothes by now.

Your Baby

Your baby is likely having a growth spurt this week- so rest up! The baby’s skin is very thin right now, and you can see blood vessels underneath the skin right now. His/her entire body is covered with a fine hair called lanugo- which they will lose shortly before or after they enter the world. The heart is working at an incredible pace- and your baby is pumping 25 quarts of blood every single day!

Concerns or points of interest

There are two very different thoughts when it comes to sex during pregnancy. Some women can’t get enough, while others don’t want anything to do with it! It is important to discuss this with your partner, so that both of you are on the same page. Increased blood flow to the pelvic region can make sex more enjoyable for some women, but nausea and fatigue can make other women say no.

If you have a high risk pregnancy, discuss what you can and cannot do in the bedroom.
