What Did You Get for Mother’s Day?

Hey moms, what did you get for Mother’s Day? Did you get a new small appliance that will make your life easier, or did you get something a bit more personal? I have to tell you -or maybe I should say warn you- about one of my gifts. My firstborn bought me a game. It’s not just an ordinary game either. I mean, the concept is simple, and anyone can play it, but it is completely addictive.

Bejeweled is a simple game, where you line up three of the same color and same shaped jewels in a row. They fall from the board and you keep doing the same thing until you run out of time or can’t make any more moves.

I don’t really play video games very often; I don’t really have much time for such things, especially not the fantasy games that people get caught up in. They look fun, but I just have too much to do to commit to something like that. Besides, I hardly ever get a turn, with everyone else playing and trying to beat each other’s scores. I played Tetris once in awhile on Play Station 2, but that was about it… until now.

As soon as Bejeweled was installed, everyone in my family became entranced. Everybody wanted a turn. Sunday night, even though I knew I had to get up early Monday and had a lot to do, I dared to play Bejeweled. Just once. Yeah, and the next thing I knew it was 1:00 a.m.

As you can imagine, I slept like a baby Monday night, but that didn’t stop me from sitting down to play after the kids went to bed last night. Nope. Before I knew it, it was midnight. That’s okay, I finally got the high score!
