Fun for Grown-Ups at Disney: The Richard Petty Driving Experience

Disney World (or any of the Disney parks) is pretty much the ultimate family vacation spot. I can’t wait to make my eventual jaunt to Disney World, but I am putting it on hold until I have kids old enough to go, because it seems like the ideal trip for a family. That being said, there’s plenty for adults to do at Disney World. There’s all the fancy dining restaurants (like Victoria & Albert), the full-service spas, and of course, enjoying the regular park experience just like everyone else. Sunday Travel Funnies: Granny Puts Pedal to the Metal and Pilots Ask for God’s Help to Land Safely

If you think senior citizens live life in the slow lane you haven’t met 96-year-old Edith Pittenger. The great-great-grandmother made history last week becoming the oldest driver to ever gun it around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Pittenger, an Indiana native, took the trip around the famous racetrack in a two-seater Dallara with driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. and reached speeds of nearly 200 mph. The arguing has been going on for years, but I think those of us who would like to keep our police force at two officers on duty at a time and two stoplights in the whole area are slowly losing the battle. We’re losing because NASCAR is just too popular. Depending upon whom you … Continue reading

Steve McQueen Auction: Cool for Sale

Steve McQueen was and always will be the King of Cool. Even 26 years after his death (due to mesothelioma), he is still a pop culture icon. Almost as well known for his love of racing as his acting, Sheryl Crow paid homage to him in her song titled “Steve McQueen” – “Like Steve McQueen, All I need’s a fast machine.” Unfortunately, it was this love of racing that might have contributed to his premature death as he wore asbestos-insulated suits in the racecars. This past Saturday, November 11th, the famous Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles was the site … Continue reading
