Remember when I asked whether you would allow your 15-year-old daughter to date a 20-year-old guy?
Well, here’s a follow-up question: Would you allow your 15-year-old daughter’s 20-year-old boyfriend to move into your home?
If you’re celebrity dad Billy Ray Cyrus you don’t just allow it, you credit yourself for suggesting it, then you marvel at how well the living arrangements are working out.
It’s true; according to news reports, teen phenom Miley Cyrus’ 20-year-old boyfriend is now cohabitating with the entire Cyrus clan. According to the New York Daily News, Justin Gaston, Cyrus’ underwear model boyfriend, is living with the singing sensation in her family’s California home.
In a recent interview the “Hannah Montana” star praised her love interest as a “great Christian” with “great morals.” Immediately following her verbal praise for Gaston, several websites posted pictures of the hunky model partying shirtless in Las Vegas with what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage in his hand.
The papers report that Cyrus’ famous father was the one who suggested the living arrangements so he could keep a close eye on the couple.
“Billy Ray wasn’t born yesterday,” the newspaper’s source alleged. “He figures the safest path to take is to keep Miley and Justin on a short leash — and under the same roof.”
You’ll recall Cyrus told reporters in a previous interview that Gaston reminded him a lot of himself at 20, which may be one of the main reasons he wanted the guy under his roof.
I have no idea how large the Cyrus’ California home is, though I would imagine it probably falls into the “mansion” category. So, does this mean that Gaston’s room is in one wing of the manor and Miley’s is in another? Also, the papers didn’t say whether Gaston is living in casa Cyrus for free or if he is using some of the money he earned baring his body in underwear ads to pay rent. Regardless, I can’t imagine any parent giving their blessing to this type of living arrangement.
A 15-year-old girl (who is still considered a minor) living under the same roof as her 20-year-old so-called Christian boyfriend, who by all accounts, is gainfully employed and has the means to live elsewhere… seems a bit risky to me.
What’s more, Billy Ray insists the living arrangement works because he’s around 24/7, but isn’t that what he said prior to Miley’s Vanity Fair photo debacle?
