What is a Separation?

If you have ever heard of the term “marriage separation” and were not sure what it meant, now is the time to learn. Marriage separation is something that happens everyday and is becoming more and more common with each passing year.

As everyone knows, marriage is a commitment that is meant to last a lifetime. I’m sure then that you also know that this is not always the case. Marriages do not always work out the way that a couple originally thought they would. The reasons for this are of course many. The most common is that the problems that arose in the marriage were denied and not dealt with in the proper way. When marital problems arise and nothing is done about them, than there is nothing else to expect besides a separation. The second highest reason for marriage separations would be that the couple who got married were not ready and/or got married for the wrong reasons.

Marriage separation is an act that is not exactly divorce but it isn’t something that is good for a marriage either. Basically, the couple agrees that their marriage is not doing very well and instead of dealing with the problem head on they decide that it is better to ignore their problems. Separation is really just giving up on your marriage. There are of course isolated cases where there really is nothing that can be done with a marriage because it has gotten so deep into problems that is has become almost impossible to get out.

When a couple decides to separate instead of divorce this is a sign that they do not want to admit that their marriage is in trouble. When this point is reached in a relationship, it is time to visit a counselor or a marriage retreat. These resources can and will help any marriage that is in trouble. Separation is a decision that never has to be made. When you love your spouse you should want to make your marriage together work; separation should not be an option for you. No matter what your marriage and relationship has been going through, there should always still be that unconditional love there to hold the two of you together. If you do not have this love, is there a reason to save your marriage?

If you are thinking about separating from your spouse, you should know that when couples separate it is almost never that they get back together. Separation is just the first step towards a divorce. It is a step that people find easier than admitting that they want a divorce. Marriage is such a complex relationship; you will find that there are many challenges associated with this commitment. Marriage separation is something very serious, this is a sign that you are in desperate need for a marriage counselor that can give you the advice that you require to make your marriage the happy relationship that it once was. This should be taken very seriously because this is the first step towards a divorce.
