Carrying around Belly Weight

There are a number of things to think about when you start a weight loss program, with one of the most important being exercise. Although “exercise” is one part of the plan, you need to remember that a number of categories fall under this heading. For instance, take the idea of losing weight just in the stomach area, such as flattening the belly to fight the bulge, which unfortunately, comes naturally with age and with a slower metabolism. To help battle the belly bulge, diet, and overall better eating habits will help.

However, losing weight around the middle can also be achieved through activities such as walking, working in the yard, bike riding, and other similar things. While better eating and exercise do help with belly fat, sometimes it simply does not seem to be enough. Remember that losing fat from the belly area and having a flat, toned stomach is not really the same thing. Therefore, you will have to use different approaches for each one. For instance, burning calories by speeding up the body metabolism is a good way to lower body fat but this takes time. The result is losing the excess fat, which improves health. Now, if you want a toned stomach, you would need to incorporate various types of aerobic exercise into your daily regimen.

Although people have excess weight show up in the thighs, arms, buttocks, and other areas of the body, belly fat always seems to be a big problem. In addition to appearance, belly fat is uncomfortable and unhealthy. The truth is that excess fat around the belly increases the risk for various diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease, and some types of Cancer.

Studies show that people who carry excessive weight around the belly often lose sensitivity to insulin. If you are not aware, insulin is an extremely important hormone, which assists the body in losing weight. For this reason, this type of weight causes the insulin to be less effective. As this occurs, insulin resistance problems can develop, leading to high blood pressure and accelerated cholesterol.

If you have excessive fat around the belly, you can do things to make it better. Just remember, the solution does not happen overnight. It takes time with the proper diet and exercise to slowly, get the body back where it should be. Therefore, you need to remain encouraged and be very persistent.
