The U.S. Social Security website has released two lists of the most popular baby names of 2020. They have put together one list of girl’s names and one list of boy’s names.
Top 10 Girls Names of 2020: Olivia, Emma, Ava, Charlotte, Sophia, Amelia, Isabella, Mia, Evelyn, Harper
Many of those names were in the top ten girls names of 2019: Olivia, Emma, Ava, Sophia, Isabella, Charlotte, Amelia, Mia, Harper, Evelyn.
The top three names on the 2019 list match the ones on the 2020 list. Other names on in the top ten of 2019 shifted around a bit. For whatever reason, there were no newly added names in the top ten of 2020.
Top 10 Boys Names of 2020: Liam, Noah, Oliver, Elijah, William, James, Benjamin, Lucas, Henry, Alexander
As you may have predicted, the top ten list of boys names of 2020 look very similar to the top ten list of boys names of 2019. There is one exception – one name on the 2019 list has moved off of the top ten list and another name took its place.

In addition, the Social Security Administration put together lists of the top five baby names for girls, and for boys, in 2020 from each state (and the District of Columbia).
A quick glance at the list shows that most, if not all, of the names on the 2020 lists appear in the top five of each state. There are a few additions that did not make those two lists.
For girls names, Eleanor is rank 5 in the District of Columbia. Camila is rank 2 in California. Luna is rank 5 in Hawaii. Kinsley is rank 4 in Mississippi. Nora is rank 5 in Montana. Hazel is rank 4 in North Dakota.
For boys names, John is rank 3 in Alabama. Theodore is rank 4 in Alaska and in Iowa. Mateo is Rank 3 in Arizona. Ranks 3, 4, and 5 in California are Mateo, Sebastian, and Julian. Michael is rank 4 in Connecticut. In Delaware, Carter is rank 4 and Anthony is rank 5. Logan is rank 5 in Hawaii. Jack is rank 5 in Maine. Lucas is rank 4 in Maryland.
