When Cheating the System You Only Cheat Yourself

Whatever “system” you use to keep fit; there is one thing we could all be reminded of. It’s that while cheating the system, you only cheat yourself. My fitness “system” is my Wii Fit Plus. I have been faithfully working out now and feeling pretty good. However there was one day when I really didn’t feel like working out. But I wanted to mark it off on my calendar and keep up the pattern I had of working out every day. I wanted the Wii Fit system to recognize my commitment. So I worked out but I did it half-heartedly. … Continue reading

Organize Your Mornings: Stick to the System

Okay, it’s time. The whole “make it up as we go” system of getting everyone ready and out the door in the morning just isn’t working. It’s definitely time to create a more organized system that will make mornings less chaotic. Gather your kids and your spouse or your roommates and work together to come up with a system that everyone can accept. When getting started, you might want to post a schedule. You can draw up a simple timeline on a dry erase board or a piece of poster board, or you can simply type it up on the … Continue reading

Why Old Video Games Systems are Good

Kids want a video game system? Shop around for an older system for much happiness. There has never been a time when I have purchased the latest new video game for my kids. It just doesn’t make sense. Of course, I am not a complete grouch. In fact, they have a number of older video games to play with at their disposal at all times, and I haven’t heard a single complaint. The fact that these systems are older ones isn’t a problem. In fact it is a benefit. Here is why. Cost Hands down, older video game systems will … Continue reading

The Weight Loss Buddy System

Do you have a weight loss buddy?  Having a buddy had many advantages but it also has its disadvantages, so make sure you pick the right buddy. How Having a Buddy Helps  Keeps you motivated.  When you want to lie in bed instead of getting up for that morning run your buddy will be there to kick you out of bed. Gives you someone to lean on when you feel the temptation for that piece of cheesecake is too strong to resist. Face it, treadmills are boring.   Having a buddy will give  you someone to talk to. Losing weight is tough.  Borrow … Continue reading

Finding Your Support System

I can only imagine going through a divorce without a sound support system by my side. I was fortunate enough to have two parents who had gone through a divorce and could empathize with what I was going through. They understood the pain I was feeling, even though the divorce was inevitable. They stood by my side when I was completely falling apart. They helped me pack up my little apartment and move in to their basement. They helped me while I was getting back on my feet and going back to school. They supported me through thick and thin … Continue reading

Getting a Swing Set or Play System on the Cheap

When we first moved in to our current home, we decided that we really needed a playset complete with swings, slide and climbing apparatus. Of course, it couldn’t be just any play system. After doing a lot of research, my husband declared that only a Rainbow Systems play set would do. It was actually the only one that we had really been exposed to, so we really have nothing else to compare it to. It could be that other systems are better, probably cheaper. We visited the showroom, stood firm against the upgrades and declared the system that we wanted. … Continue reading

Arizona has a Health Care Cost Containment System

Every state has a Medicaid program. Each state can choose to name their program whatever they want to. Some just call it “Medicaid”. Others use the word “Healthy” in the name. California calls it Medi-Cal. Arizona’s Medicaid program is called the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System. I’ve been writing about insurance for a couple of years now. In that span of time, Arizona has consistently come up with some of the most extreme ideas about health insurance coverage that the nation has ever seen. This is the state that created a bill called House Bill 2625 which would have … Continue reading

Does Your Filing System Really Work?

I’ve always been proud of how organized I am, you might even say I’ve been cocky about it. Paperwork comes into my house and it is immediately filed, most of the time. I brag that I can lay my hands on anything you want in under five minutes. I really thought my filing system was working. Probably because other than tax paperwork I haven’t needed anything in my filing cabinet in a while. I have a system, a good system that made sense to me, other people might not understand it but I thought I did. Until Hailey’s accident and … Continue reading

The Voucher System in Georgia has Problems

There has been an ongoing struggle regarding the school voucher system in Georgia. The difficulty seems to be figuring out how to meet the needs of students who have special needs while keeping the budgets of the public schools in balance. Each state gets to decide, individually, what it wants to do regarding school vouchers. As far as I am aware, there isn’t a federal law that decides this for all states, across the board. This allows each state to create a program that is tailor made to fit best with the needs, and the budget, of their state. It … Continue reading
