Do Coupons Really Save You Money?

Are you a coupon clipper? Do you think maybe you should be? Certainly the question has arisen in anyone’s mind who doesn’t clip any coupons… should I be? Then there are those who are actually clipping the coupons who ask the question… is this really making any difference? I have tried it both ways. To be brutally honest, I think coupons make very little difference in the big financial picture, and to do them right they take loads of time. Now, I know there are those out there who would disagree with me. If you are one, please comment on … Continue reading

Save Money When Eating Out: Free Meals And Discounts

Now we come to the best way to eat out, for free (or at least for a discount). In two earlier articles, the original Save Money When Eating Out, and Save Money When Eating Out: Ordering Strategies, I covered many of the ways that you can enjoy a family meal out at a restaurant and still so it frugally. Go check those articles out, if you haven’t read them, yet. Stock up on the coupons. I’m assuming that with kids and a frugal lifestyle, you aren’t going to any place that is called Chez Fancy Pants. Look for coupons in … Continue reading

In an earlier blog, Save on Paper: The Three Best Ways, I covered the top three easy ways that we can conserve and reuse paper. There was a lot of nice feedback from Families.com members. You are definitely a sophisticatedly frugal bunch. Demanding, too, but that is what I really like. And the demands are all good! So in response, I thought I would post even more ways to save paper, this time focusing on taking advantage of that phenomena that plagues modern mankind…junk-mail! Don’t forget to leave comments on the blogs. While I always check my private messages, comments … Continue reading

Save on Paper: The Three Best Ways

Our family also seem to acquire a plentiful amount of paper towel rolls too, but not as much as toilet paper tubes. Grocery Bags All those plastic grocery bags that we accumulate every time we visit the grocery store or discount chain store, really add up. I hate to throw them away, so stuff them inside a paper towel roll. About 10 … Continue reading

Benefits of Saving Your Scraps

One of the easiest ways to cut down on your scrapbooking bill is to save leftover supplies. Typically, I purchase embellishments for specific layouts, so it’s rare for me to have a ton of scraps. However, the leftovers I have are meticulously sorted and placed in an accordion file. You could sort them by color or manufacturer, but I find dividing scraps by theme is the method that works best for me. If you your scrap stash is dwindling or you just want to beef up your reserves, consider looking for extras in every day places. For example, wrapping paper, … Continue reading
